Jalandhar: Cornering Aam Admi Party over its silence over naming Chief Ministerial candidate, Congress star campaigner Navjot Singh Sidhu on Thursday said that it is none other than the national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is eyeing the Chief Minister’s post in Punjab.
Sidhu said that AAP leader Durgesh Pathak, who was ‘heading’ Punjab unit of the party mediated to offer him the post of Deputy Chief Minister. He said that AAP first asked him to become AAP’s star campaigner, and then offered him the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
“Durgesh Pathak came with the deal that for one year Arvind Kejriwal would become the Chief Minister of Punjab and later I would take over as the CM”, Sidhu said amidst roaring response from the gathering.
Addressing a gathering in favour of his friend and party candidate Olympian Pargat Singh in Jalandhar Cantonment constituency, Sidhu questioned AAP to name its CM candidate. “AAP leadership wants to run Punjab through remote control, which they have been doing even now too”, he said.
Navjot Sidhu also lashed out at AAP for categorically leaking information and videos to media ‘selectively’. “While AAP asked me to ensure utmost secrecy in meeting Arvind Kejriwal, they kept on leaking selective videos and information to the media”, he said.
In his typical style and chaste Punjabi, Sidhu lashed out at both AAP and SAD-BJP leadership, leaving the gathering in laughter and asking for more.He lauded Pargat for standing by the people of Jalandhar Cantonment and thanked Jagbir Singh Brar, congress candidate from Nakodar assembly seat and Adampur assembly seat candidate Mohinder Singh Kaypee for extending support to Pargat.
“I promise the people of Punjab that after coming to power, I would come to thank the voters along with Brar and Kaypee, who have played a major role in winning prospects of Congress”, he quipped.
