Ludhiana: While putting a full stop on rumors of leaving Akali Dal and joining Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal leader and councilor Kamaljjit Singh Karwal denied joining Congress party. Karwal said he will not leave Akali Dal and his only desire is to see defeat of MLA Simarjit Singh Bains and his brother Balwinder Singh Bains in elections.
On Monday, the rumor of Karwal joining Congress and contesting elections from Atam Nagar was high but Karwal claimed that Congress leaders have offered him to contest elections but he refused the same.
However, Karwal denied joining Congress, but sources claimed that Karwal is in touch with Congress leadership but he will take any decision after the green signal of his mentor Madan Lal Bagga, district president of Akali Dal. Sources said that if everything goes well, both Bagga and Karwal will join Congress.
While addressing the press conference, Karwal who was once right hand of MLA Simarjit Singh Bains said that Bains brothers were opportunists and befooled the people of their constituencies.
“I will ensure the defeat of Bains brothers in elections and make the people aware of the policies of sitting MLA”, said Karwal.
Accompanied by Shiromani Akali Dal candidate from Atam Nagar Gurmeet Singh Kular, Kamaljit Singh Karwal said that he will visit every house and seek support for Kular.
It is pertinent to mention here that Karwal was contender for Akali Dal ticket from Atam Nagar but after the ticket was given to Gurmeet Singh Kular, Congress approached Karwal and wanted to contest elections on Congress ticket.
