Hoshiarpur: A year after Radhe Maa was embroiled into controversy, Bollywood actor Dolly Bindra on Thursday reached Mukerian town of Hoshiarpur district to lodge a protest against the self styled goddess in her hometown.
Bindra especially flew from Mumbai to Mukerian and burnt the effigy of Radhe Maa along with some local Shiv Sena leaders. She also sought Enforcement Directorate (ED) probe against Radhe Maa for misleading people under the garb of religion.
Raising slogans against Radhe Maa, whose original name was Sukhwinder Kaur alias Babbo, Bindra said that she had made an appeal against the self styled god woman in Hoshiarpur. “Under the garb of ‘Radhe Maa’ name, Sukhwinder Kaur was misleading people. She has been involved in many wrong works”, she said while holding the protest.
Notably, Radhe Maa was at her in-laws place in Mukerian to take part in the annual religious function of her Guru at Paramhans dera tomorrow. Every year, Radhe Maa visits Mukerian on the occasion of Janmashtami ie the birth of lord Krishna.
Earlier last year, Bindra had reached Hoshiarpur to lodge a complaint with the police against Radhe Maa. Bindra, who was a follower and a close friend of Radhe Maa at one point of time, had also leveled allegations of sexual harassment against Radhe Maa and her followers.
Meanwhile, last year, a Mumbai based woman had lodged a complaint with the police that Radhe Maa incited her in laws to harass her for dowry. Another person had filed a complaint of obscenity against Radhe Maa, after her videos of dancing on Bollywood numbers went viral.
It is pertinent to mention here that Radhe Maa, who was married in Mukerian based man used to stitch clothes to make both ends meet. At the age of 17, Radhe Maa married Mohan Singh who used to work at a sweet shop of his brother.
In early 1980’s Mohan Singh went to Middle East for work, after which Sukhwinder Kaur alias Radhe Maa came in contact with dera Paramhans. People started inviting her to their religious functions and within no time, she donned the hat of a self styled goddess.
Currently settled in Borivali in Mumbai, Radhe Maa has a temple and an ashram at Khanpur village in Mukerian in her name. Though Radhe Maa’s popularity soared, many religious organizations also objected to her claims of being a goddess.
