Actor Irrfan Khan’s ‘Hindi Medium’ to release on 12 May .Actor Irrfan Khan’s upcoming film ‘Hindi Medium’ started an important discussion on the class divide created in India, between English speakers and those who can’t speak the language and slotting them as ‘uneducated’.
Irrfan Khan speaking fluent English in Hollywood movies like Inferno and Jurassic World but now that he is back home and going Hindi Medium, he is speaking a new language. For him now, it is, “A for Apple and B for Bada Apple”.
In a recent promotional video for his upcoming release Hindi Medium, Irrfan is seen preparing his daughter for admission in the best English medium school and is teaching her the alphabets of the language. But with Irrfan’s tuition classes, the little girl played by Dishita Sehgal might just lose out on whatever chance she has to study in a reputed English medium school.
This is why Irrfan’s wife essayed by Pakistani actor Saba Qamar, who feels English is not a language but a class and if not them, at least their daughter should be a part of that class, takes away her daughter from daddy Irrfan.
On a less sombre note, Irrfan tweeted a video of him teaching the English alphabets to his on-screen daughter in his own unique way.
He starts with “A for Anda” and “B for Bandar”, you can only wonder where the rest of the colourful tutoring would go. Irrfan posted this video on his Twitter profile and wrote, “Sikhiye angrezi alphabet Hindi Medium style #HindiMedium In cinemas 19th May. @hindimediumfilm”.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer of the film shows the struggle of a Hindi-speaking man portrayed by Irrfan and his English-speaking wife portrayed by Saba Qamar, to ensure their daughter gets the best education by getting her enrolled into a good school.’Hindi Medium’ is scheduled to release on May 19, 2017
