While Sidharth Malhotra is eagerly awaiting response to Bar Bar Dekho, which he calls an ‘experimental film’; debutant director Nitya Mehra is ‘comfortably numb’ ahead of the film’s release.
We wonder if the box-office numbers matter to her, and she says, “I don’t want anybody who has even put in a rupee into this film to not get that rupee back. I am very conscious about it. Why should anybody lose money on my account?”
She adds, “But what is really important more than the box office numbers and the reviews is the audience connecting with characters of Jai and Diya…It doesn’t have to be throughout the film. Even if there is just one scene that they can connect to and feel that they want to do something differently because they have learnt something from it, I will be very happy.”
Working on Bar Bar Dekho, which has complex turn of events, wasn’t as easy task for both Nitya and Sidharth. “We have used the theme of time in the film. It is a simple yet complex story. The challenge was to package it in a new and interesting way,” explains Nitya.
Here Sidharth chips in saying, “The film is a love story but not portrayed in a typical way. We have tried changing the love story genre, and addressed personality issues.”
