November 8, 2016; a day which no Indian can forget. The long queues in front of the banks to get the old currency exchanged and awaiting for the brand new purple coloured note of Rs 2000. Are you getting the flashes back? Well, be ready for more. Punjabi filmmaker Kssihitj Chaudhary is all set to bring you back to the time, when the entire country witnessed demonetisation. With a funny attempt, the makers of up and coming Punjabi film, ‘Golak Bugni Bank Te Batua’ are taking a dig at demonetisation. How, we wonder, and the director quips, “As the trailer shows, we are presenting demonetisation in a comical/ light-hearted way. Why, because that was the time which no Indian can forget. We all remember counting the old notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 and then waiting to exchange them in the long queues. It is a full fledged story in itself.”The film stars actors Harish Verma and Simmi Chahal in lead roles, who are all smiles for having worked in this film. Harish says, “We know that people had to face a lot of difficulties during that time. But, it is an attempt to showcase that not everything can be bought with money. Since, the script draws inspiration from reality, I am sure everyone will find a bit of themselves in this film,” adds the actor. Not afraid of getting typecast in the film industry is Simmi Chahal. When questioned about her repeated roles of a village girl in her films, she quips, “I don’t mind being tagged or typecast as far as people are enjoying my work. That is more important for me. “This film is amazing and I couldn’t afford to miss out such an incredible script. I am not afraid of tags,” adds Simmi. The film also stars BN Sharma, Anita Devgan, Jaswinder Bhalla and Gurshabad. Dheeraj Rattan has written the screenplay and dialogues are from the pens of Rakesh Dhawan and Surmeet Maavi.
