Amritsar: Upcoming Punjabi film “25 Kille” will bring the famous on-screen ‘jatts’ of the Punjabi film industry, Guggu Gill and Yograj Singh, together for the first time after 16 years. The film is helmed by actor Ranjha Vikram Singh, who was seen in a negative role in “Heropanti”, who is co-producing it with Shirin Morani. In the city for promotions ahead of its August 25 release, the stars and the director of the film, Simranjeet Singh Hundal, interacted with the media.“The film has a good script, story of four brothers, who have to face the test of time. It is not like the regular formulaic Punjabi films that rely on violence and slap-stick humour to get cash registers ringing. It has subtle emotions and will be based on the simple lifestyle led by the rural population of punjab,” said the director. It stars Soniya, a upcoming model and actor, as female lead and Ranjha Vikram SIngh along with veteran actors. The film will be released worldwide including in Dubai. As for their on-screen pairing after a long time, Gill says he enjoyed working alongside Yograj SIngh. “He is a great actor and since we both have a long association, there was a comfort factor while shooting. I hope our efforts are appreciated by the audience,” he said. Vikram Singh, who has so far been part of South Indian film industry and Bollywood projects, said he is excited about his first Punjabi film, “I am glad to do this Punjabi film. Being an actor and a producer of this film, I also understand the dynamics of the business, so we are tapping a worldwide market with this film as Punjabi films have a scope in Canada and Britain. The Punjabi film industry is booming and this is the best phase for the industry. Even if you talk of Hindi films, a majority of the projects have Punjabis as their backdrop. Unlike Bollywood, Punjabi films have medium budgets but they are recovering their money as well.”
