Patiala(Jagdeep Chopra) – The Farming Fraternity seemed in a mood to confront with Punjab Government as the Congress Led State Government has failed to take concrete steps for the removal of Farmer’s major Grievances by accepting their Long pending demands and annoyed with the government now the farmers have announced to celebrate the festival of Lights Diwali in Black mode. As per the information available with Daily Post over the issue, the farmers have decided to celebrate the coming Festival of Diwali in shape of Balck Diwali as they will not exchange any sweets and not light up their houses in the festival. The Sources, however, confirmed that while celebrating the Black Diwali the Farmers have decided to lodge their protest against the government in a big way by burning Paddy Stubble in their Fields on Diwali Night. A decision to this effect has been taken at a meeting of the Bhartiya Kisan Union and the meeting was presided over by the treasurer of the Union Gulzar Singh Salampur. The meeting was attended by others includes Surjeet Singh Sarala, Ranjit Singh Lohsimbli, Amrik Singh, Tehal Singh, Labh Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Balwinder Singh, Hazoora Singh and Joginder Singh. While presiding over the meeting of the cadre Gulzar Singh Salempur exhorted the farmers to say no to the exchanging of the sweets as these contain spurious Khoa and it is not fit for the human consumption and also not too light up their houses on Diwali as they are compelled to live a miserable life by the state government as it so far not accepted any of the demands concerning the state farmers and trying to just pass the time. Lashing on the issue of the pollution he said that spurious sweets are for sale in the bazaars and they are more polluted but nobody is taking action against the sweet sellers whereas on Burning of Paddy Stubble Farmers are made an easy target.Turning towards the National Green Tribunal (NGT)’s order to ban the burning of the Paddy Stubbles in the Fields in Punjab, he said that the Tribunal issued an order in December 2015 to the state government putting a ban on the burning of Paddy Stubble but along with the order it also instructed the government to support financially the farmers over the issue as well. He said that as the state government has failed in supporting the farmers on the issue so the NGT’s order has itself become a mockery of farmers.Salempur added that as per the directions of the NGT the state government has to provide free of cost machinery required for the removal of the Paddy Stubble from the Fields to the farmers having 2.5 Acres of Agriculture Land, For the farmers with Five Acres of Agriculture Land the government is bound to provide a sum of Rs. Five thousand and with more Agriculture Land the government has to get a deposit of Rs. 15, 000 and provide required machinery to the concerned Farmers but the government has failed to provide the machinery till but trying to horrify the farmers through the orders against the burning of the Paddy Stubble. He urged the farmers not to be feel horrified by the state government and provide the Paddy stubble for burning in the fields on Diwali day as now the Union has decided to lodge its protest against the state government’s failures on all fronts concerning the state farmers.
