Remembering legendary Jagjit Singh: There are some voices that Bollywood has given to us which cannot be forgotten till death. One such voice is of Ghazal King Jagjit Singh.Whenever people are in a mood to listen ghazals, majority of music lovers can’t think beyond Jagjit Singh. Years after he left for his heavenly abode, this singer left behind a legacy which still hasn’t found any successor yet. Jagjit was born on February 8, 1941 in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan.His was a melodious world. A soft existence where poetry and sweetness ruled. Music was composed effortlessly by him as it was part of his inner being. His smiling eyes and simplicity remain a lovely memory.Jagjit Singh’s first recording was at the Jalandhar All India Radio station. He used to do live concerts for AIR Jalandhar six times a year.In 1990, Jagjit and Chitra’s son Vivek died in a car crash, leaving the couple devastated. Jagjit went silent for six months only to emerge stronger but his wife, Chitra, found herself unable to sing and became a near recluse after the tragedy.Singer has given us many melodious classics like Hoshwalon ko khabar kya, Tum itna jo muskura rahe ho, Hothon se choolo tum, Tumko dekha toh ye khayal aya and many more such hit classics.
