After Amazon, yet another e-commerce giant Flipkart has earned the wrath of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandik Committee (SGPC) for displaying a photograph of the Golden Temple on runners (warm mats or rugs) being sold by the company online.A statement issued here on Tuesday said that the SGPC president, Gobind Singh Longowal while taking a strong notice of this has directed the gurdwara body’s chief secretary, Roop Singh to proceed with the case against Flipkart.
Longowal, once again, made it clear that no individual or company would be allowed to hurt Sikh sentiments by indulging in such shameful acts. Following the directions of the SGPC chief, Roop Singh has sent a legal notice to Flipkart warning that it either wthdraws its product being displayed online or removes the picture of the Golden Temple.
Through the notice, the SGPC has also demanded an apology from Flipkart and stated that if the company does not fulfill this demand then the SGPC would get a police case registered against the company under relevant sections of the law.
