Pranab Mukherjee retiring from the post of President On Monday.. Today is his last day as President of India. Pranab Mukherjee took charge of the 13th President of India on July 25, 2012. He will address the nation for the last time at 7.30 pm. President Pranab Mukherjee will also give a farewell dinner in Rashtrapati Bhavan today. On this occassion Vice-President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all Union Ministers, leaders of political parties and other prominent people will participate.Earlier, President Mukherjee was felicitated yesterday at the Central Hall of Parliament. Vice President Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and all the important leaders of the opposition were present in the program. Speaking on this occasion, Pranab Mukherjee highly praised the functioning of PM Modi.After retirement from the post of President, 81-year-old Pranab Mukherjee will be living in 10 Rajaji Marg of Delhi. Former President APJ Abdul Kalam was also staying in this bungalow till his death after being freed from the presidency. Following Kalam’s death, 10 Rajaji Marg was allotted to Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma. After allotting President Mukherjee, Mahesh Sharma vacated the 10 Rajaji Marg bungalow and went to 10 Akbar Road bungalow.Prior to this, Pranab Mukherjee has taken many important responsibilities including the Foreign Minister, the Defence Minister, and the Finance Minister of the country.During his very long political journey, he was elected five times the Rajya Sabha MP and two times Lok Sabha MPs. The successors of President Pranab Mukherjee and the country’s next President, Ram Nath Kovind, will take oath tomorrow.
