Chandigarh: The Punjab Government is on back-foot for appointing Kamaljit Singh Dhillon as SSP Moga. After the revealing of allegations of corruption and drug trafficking and departmental probe against him, the Government in its verbal direction, has barred the SSP to attend the Office. A day before, he had joined the office as replacement of controversial SSP Raj Jit Singh, who was transferred to Commandant 4 CD to Mohali. But the question raised in the bureaucratic and Political circle was who recommended the name of Dhillon.
Sources in the Police confirmed that the recommendation was not made from the Police headquarter, but it was the work of coterie of Chief Minister. It was impossible that Dhillon’s track record was not checked. But the appointment made some Ministers and MLAs annoyed, which again the damaged the image of Government. Notable, the CM has sought complete report from the Home department regarding Dhillon.Police officers clarified that no senior Police officer recommended Dhillon’s name as there are number of cases and probes going on against him. It was the part of damage control that he was barred to attend the office. Sources told that he is likely to be transferred in coming days with other officers.
