Chandigarh: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday filed his application form online for participating in second International Yoga Day to be organised in Chandigarh on June 21. While stating this here on Wednesday, an official spokesman said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be the Chief Guest in the ‘International Yoga Day’ programme to be organised in Chandigarh this year.
He said that with the concerted efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has got recognition at international level. Like the previous year, the programme this year would also be telecast all over the world. The spokesman said that the state government has decided to celebrate the ‘International Yoga Day’ on June 21 as ‘Yog Utsav’ in the state. He said that a training programme would be organised at Parade Ground in Panchkula from June 12 to June 14 from 5 am to 7 am where master trainers of Yoga would impart training as a part of the ‘Yog Utsav’.
Apart from this, a full dress rehearsal would also take place at Chandigarh on June 19. He said that during last year, 5.70 lakh people performed Yoga in the state. As a result of this, Chandigarh has been chosen for the National Level Programme in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also perform yoga.
