Chandigarh: Haryana Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu said that the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in the country would lead to expansion of the economy, check tax evasion and bring about uniformity and transparency in tax system.
The Minister was speaking at the two-day National Convention for Chartered Accountancy (CA) students at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar, on Thursday.
He said that the implementation of the GST system would lead to a uniform, simple and convenient tax system across the country, which would further lead to increase in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the country and the states.
The Chartered Accountants, who would play an important role in the task related to this system, would be required in a large number. He said that the scope of Information Technology under the ‘Digital India’ programme conceptualised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had increased in the state in the past 17 months. This has brought in transparency in the system and helped curb corruption. He also urged the Chartered Accountants to work towards nation-building with honesty and dedication. DP
