Chandigarh: While considering the difficulty being faced by some people in availing the benefit of Old Age Pension scheme, Haryana Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Kavita Jain simplified the rules for its applicants. Jain said that now ten years old Pan Card and Voter ID card would be valid for those applicants who were unable to submit the proof of their age for availing Old Age Pension. She said that a large number of beneficiaries of the scheme and new applicants would be benefitted with the change in the rules. She said that in order to make the distribution of social security pension more transparent and to delete the names of those drawing the benefit in a wrong manner, the Department had decided to change the rules.
These changes have resulted in stopping of pension of about 1.5 lakh those pensioners who were wrongfully taking pension and thereby saving crores of rupees of the government. It was strictly made necessary to submit proof of age of 60 years for getting Old Age Pension because of which the benefit of many beneficiaries was deferred. Taking note of this problem, she said that directions were issued to officers of the Department to change the rules. DP
