Chandigarh: With a view to ensure effective implementation of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act and Pre-conception and Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC and PNDT) Act by using latest technology, a unique system is being evolved under which iPhone will be provided to decoy customers to keep a track on his movement. This was disclosed by Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Dr Rakesh Gupta while reviewing the implementation of MTP, PC and PNDT Act and functioning of power utilities with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police through video conferencing recently.
This system will significantly help state authorities to nab those involved in business of illegal sex determination and female foeticide as the movement of decoy customer can be tracked easily through iPhone. Dr Gupta said that complete data base including phone number, address and email- id of state authorities of neighboring states like Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will be compiled in next three days and will be provided to all Deputy Commissioners, Superintendent of Police and CMOs, to assist them in conducting inter-state raids to nab those violating the provisions of MTP, PC and PNDT Act.
While reviewing the district wise progress of implementation of MTP, PC and PNDT Act, he directed district administration, police and Health Department to work in close coordination for the successful implementation on these Acts. Dr Gupta said that the concerned officers doing outstanding work in ensuring effective implementation of the Act will be appreciated and honoured by Chief Minister. He also stressed at the need for organising workshops for officers of district administration, police and Health Department so as to sensitise them about different provisions of these acts. Dr Gupta said that 31 FIRs have so far been registered by police in district Panipat since the beginning of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign which is highest as compared to other districts. DP
