Chandigarh: Haryana government has decided to formulate a Policy to find ways to treat waste water and reuse it for irrigation and other purposes to prevent pollution of Sarasvati river. Spokesman of Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board said that it has also been decided to formulate a policy and make a provision for punishment of those stakeholders who will dispose domestic waste water and untreated water into the river.
Strong action will be taken against the violators, he added. He said that it will be ensured that the treated and untreated waste water was not disposed of in Sarasvati river or any other river in the state by adopting the model of waste water treatment management on the pattern of model developed by Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal’s in Punjab. This water will be diverted and reused for irrigation and other purposes to avoid pollution of Sarasvati river.
The maintenance and repair of holy pond at Adi Badri will be done by Forest Department which has been directed to prepare a plan for construction of reservoir along Sarasvati river in Syonsar forest area by August 31. The department will expedite the clearance of project to supply canal water to Pehowa Tirath in a time bound manner. He said that all Sewage Treatment Plants for Urban and Sub Urban areas should be taken up on priority basis in the first stage to control the pollution in river Sarasvati. DP
