Shimla: Former BJP Chief Minister and leader of opposition, Prem Kumar Dhumal on Sunday said after Narendra Modi took over as prime Minister of India, the country has witnessed the ‘change in system’ , not the change in power alone. Speaking at the seventh session on the third day of state executive meeting in Manali, Dhumal discussed the political scenario in the stat and the centre.
“With Narendra Modi as PM, the government at the centre is not taking decisions to benefit a few people. Every decision is now being taken keeping in view the interest of the common people in the country,” he said. Dhumal said India’s status had gone up internationally. He cited an instance wherein Prime Minister got standing ovation nine times when he spoke in the US Congress.
He said the Modi led NDA government at the centre had a long term vision for development of the country. He said that is why the Centre is now taking along the states in the development process. He said before Parliament polls, Modi had said that Himachal was his second home. He said after becoming the Prime Minister of India, Modi had proved his concern for Himachal Pradesh.
‘Under his leadership, the Central government has been giving liberal assistance to HP. The Prime Minister has also tried to compensate HP in the 14th Finance Commission by giving it a huge financial assistance. The state was left crying when in previous UPA regime, HP was discriminated against in allocations of 13th Finance Commission,” he said. He said the state was getting much advantage of the central schemes.
Dhumal launched a scathing attack on the state government Himachal and said while the Modi government at centre was an example of ‘good governance’, the present Congress government in Himachal is an example of ‘bad governance’. He said the cabinet ministers in Himachal are leveling corruption allegations against each other in the cabinet meetings and the senior and capable officers were being sidelined to give benefit to particular officers. He said the development had come to a standstill in the state under Congress rule.
He said the state government has got exposed. He said the Congress government alleged that 1372 phones were tapped. However, when the challan was put up, the Police referred to tapping of just two telephones. He said the Congress government was spreading lies on the price rise issue. “If the government is so concerned, why it is not using law to check hoarding?” he said. Dhumal asked the workers to work day and night in the run up to polls to expose the Congress government and its fall promises to people.
