Shimla: Former BJP Chief Minister and leader of Opposition Prem Kumar Dhumal on Tuesday criticised the Congress government for the deteriorating law order in the state over the last three and half years. In a release here, the former CM said the lawlessness in Congress rule has reached an extent that capable officers are not able to act on the situation because of continuous pressure from the government.
“The growing incidents of murder, rape and drug trafficking have doubled in last few years and has brought shame to the reputation of the hill state. Recent incidents such as rape of a foreigner female tourist in Manali, the shootout in Mandi, another rape incident in Dharamshala and illegal drug trafficking in border areas has put the life of a common man into danger. The administration and the government has completely failed to control the situation,” he said. Dhumal alleged that the grip of criminal mafias on state government is so strong that whenever any criminal incident is reported to the police, instead of letting an officer investigate the matter against these criminals, he is transferred out.
“That is the reason why these mining mafias, forest mafias and drug trafficking are flourishing in the state.” Dhumal came down heavily on the state government for its failures in this regard and alleged that instead of the welfare of citizens, party is more inclined towards its own selfish motives.DP
