Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh announced to include more model school in the state for imparting quality education. He was presiding over the annual prize distribution function of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Shogi near Shimla on Monday.
Singh said that education was a key to success and development adding that it was more important to bring quality in education rather than being considered oneself as educated by uttering few words in English. It was important to be knowledgeable rather than having little knowledge, he said. He said that just to pass examinations was not enough, a child should come in merit by scoring at least 95 per cent marks.
“We are not like the opposition, who de-notified many schools during their regime, instead the Congress party believes in spreading light of education to every corner of the state so that every child is benefited,” he said.
He said that numerous vacancies in around 15,500 schools of the state were filled up during the present tenure of the government and the process of filling the vacant seats was still on. Apart from this, 116 degree colleges were functioning in the state and maximum of them in far flung and rural areas, benefiting the girl child the most.
Chief Minister said besides, the GSSS, Shogi he declared Ghannahatti, Sunni and Halog Dhami GSS Schools as Model Schools on the analogy of Portmore School, Shimla. He added that 37 schools were either upgraded or opened in Shimla rural assembly segment during the present government’s regime which included eight primary schools, 11 Government Middle schools, eight High schools and nine GSSS.
Headmaster, GSSS Shogi, Anita Sharma, welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister and other dignitaries present on the occasion. She also read the annual report of the school.
Chairman of State Co-operative Bank Harsh Mahajan, Chairperson of Zila Parishad Dharmila Harnot, BCC President of Shimla Rural Chander Shekhar, DC Rohan Thakur were also present on the occasion among others.
During the past four years Shimla Rural constituency, represented by the Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, has been well nurtured.
