Chandigarh: The UT Administration has initiated the cosmetic makeover of the Capitol Complex, the main venue where International Day of Yoga is to be held. Capitol Complex is being revamped and the roads leading to the complex are being repaved. The Delhi-based company which had fetched the tender for setting up of stage and supply of logistics for Yoga Day started fixing the venue to set up stage, carpets, mats and urinals.
The company quoted lowest tender for Rs 2.89 crore for the work orders. UT in its tender had demanded supply of soft carpet covering 10 lakh square feet of area for the main venue, 30,000 mats for guests, 40 LED screens will be used to display the Prime Minister performing the Yoga asanas during the event, 300 portable bio urinals and dustbins and 1.25 lakh mineral water glasses.
The land is being levelled and the company has also set up the control unit to monitor the happenings at the event. Podiums are being set up to display the large screens at 40 designated spots. UT will hold two days pre-event rehearsals for the selected participants on June 19 and 20 at the main venue Capitol Complex. UT in its tender statement has issued that arrangement for the mass Yoga demonstration at Capitol Complex Sector 1 Chandigarh from 7 am to 8 am on June 21.
