Shimla: Former BJP CM and Lok Sabha MP from Kangra, Shanta Kumar has urged Union Ministry of Civil Aviation to start “Heli” services to promote tourism in the state. He said there is a vast scope of growth and development in the tourism sector in the state.
The rail traffic is almost negligible and most of the tourists do not want to travel via extreme winding roads. Due to difficult geographical conditions, airports are also very limited. “In such conditions, regular Helicopter services should be started in Himachal Pradesh,”he said.
While presenting the letter to the Union minister for Civil Aviation, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Kumar added that the fare for these air services in the hill state should also be monitored because at times airfare from Dharamsala to Delhi is Rs 6,000 and sometimes it’s Rs.10,000, which is irrational. DP
