Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi led NDA government had failed on all fronts in its two years rule and had cheated all with false promises, including the legal fraternity. “Modi government is taking many decisions which are hurting the interests of lawyers across the country which includes creation of Commercial Courts, Commercial Division and Commercial Appellate Division of High Court Bill 2015,” he said. At a meeting of the legal department of the PCC, he said the implementation of bill would prove detrimental to the interests of common litigants and lawyers at sub-divisional level.
The meeting was attended by legal department Chairman IN Mehta, media department chairman, Naresh Chauhan and intellectual department Chairman J N Barowalia among others. Sukhu raised the issue of Section 118 of Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reform Act 1972 and said that necessary amendments should be made in the Act so that bonafide Himachali and non-agriculturalist Himachalis could be able to purchase small piece of land approximately 500 sq mts for residential purposes.
He said that Congress party would expose the failure of Modi government in its two years rule and almost each section of the society are now feeling disappointed with Centre government. “PM Modi had made promises on bringing Achhe Din (Good days), bringing back black money, increasing farmers’ income, providing employment to unemployed youth, reducing price rise and depositing Rs 15 lakh in each Indian national’s bank account. Further, PM Modi had also promised to hike import duty on apples and develop tourism and rail infrastructure in Himachal.
But failed to deliver on these promises as apples imports have been eased and no action has been taken on tourism or development of rail network in the state,” he said. He urged the legal fraternity spread awareness among general public about the failures of Modi government as was being done under ‘Modi ke Bol, Jumlon Ke Dhol campaign of Congress. He also praised the achievements of Congress led state government in HP and said that the government had fulfilled almost all promises made in the party’s election manifesto.
