Shimla: Additional Chief Secretary Revenue, Tarun Shridhar said here on Monday that good rainfall was expected in the State this year which might start by the end of this month whereas pre-monsoon may come about ten days earlier, according to the prediction of Meteorological Department. He said that timely preparedness for the impending monsoon was being ensured and alerts have been issued to all the concerned authorities across the State, regarding precautionary measures to be taken well in time to prevent and mitigate losses to human lives, livestock and property due to heavy rains.

He also stressed upon paying special attention for cleaning of water channels, nullahs, removal of blockages, pre-monsoon de-siltation and encroachments from drainage systems and flood plains so that there is no break down of essential services. He asked to take preventive steps to ensure that there is no outbreak of epidemics.
