Shimla: International Yoga Day spirited the cool environs in Queen of Hills Shimla on Tuesday as the students of different schools performed asanas in large groups to mark the occasion. Governor Acharya Devvrat made an early start to the special day with a session at Raj Bhawan, where large number of people took part.
Former Chief Minister and leader of opposition, Prem Kumar Dhumal and Union Minister of State for Defence, Rao Inder Singh were seen doing yoga in Saraswati Vidya Mandir here to motivate the people and the students to adopt yoga in day to day routine.“Make Yoga an integral part of life and commit to adopt it in order to get the benefit of it,” the Governor said.
He said that yoga has been part of our old traditions and stressed on making it a routine activity to evade negative energy in life. He said that yoga enhances mental and physical well-being of a person. Acharya Devvrat said yoga functions and ‘asanas’ were related to nature and one who connects to nature is mentally and physically more healthy.
