Jethmalani to announce retirement on September 14. The country’s leading lawyer and former law minister Ram Jethmalani has announced his retirement on his 95th birthday on September 14. Jethmalani has been in the news for many high profile cases during his 76-year long career. According to the agency UNI, Jethmalani said, “I will be 95 after five days.I have lived long in the advocacy. Bar Council of India to felicitate new Chief Justice of India, Justice Dipak Misra, he said, “I am here to tell you I am retiring from the profession.” Jethmalani was born on September 14, 1923 in Pakistan. He passed matriculation at the age of 13 and he obtained a law degree at the age of 17.Jethmalani also has several awards, “International Jurist Award in the Philippines, Human Rights Award in 1977.” Jethmalani’s high profile case: Asaram Bapu’s defence in Jodhpur sexual assault case, AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal in defamation case filed by Arun Jaitley, Defence of Rajiv Gandhi’s killers in Madras High Court in 2011, Indira Gandhi’s murder case, unaccountable property case for Jayalalitha, Harshad Mehta and Ketan Parekh’s defence in stock market scam, Underworld don Haji Mastan scandal, and Manu Sharma’s defence in Jessica Lall murder case.Apart from this, the lawyer of Defended death sentence of Afzal Guru. Jethmalani has a long career in politics too. Jethmalani was elected as a member of Parliament in 1971 and 1977 with the support of the BJP-Shiv Sena winning the Lok Sabha election from Mumbai.
