During the 37th edition of his radio talk ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that after he advocated use of handloom on Gandhi Jyanti on October 2, there was a record sale of Khadi products on Dhanteras.He said, on Diwali, Khadi gift coupon sales recorded an overwhelming 680 per cent rise and compared to last year the total sales of these products.
He said, many weaver, poor, and families working on handlooms must have benefitted from this. “Earlier it was Khadi for nation and Khadi for fashion but now, it is becoming Khadi for transformation” Modi said.
Expressing concern over diseases like diabetes affecting children, Modi said, the diseases which surfaced in old age or emerged around the last lap of life have started to appear in children nowadays due to lack of physical activity and the changes in the eating habits. He said that Yoga will be helpful for maintaining a healthy lifestyle and protecting children from lifestyle disorders.
He also congratulated Indian Hockey team for winning the Asia cup and Kidambi Shrikanth for winning Denmark Open.
Mentioning about FIFA Under-17 World Cup, the Prime Minister said that it was successfully organized and all the teams performed their best.
Speaking about cleanliness, the Modi mentioned about transformation of Chandrapur Fort in Maharashtra where an NGO called Ecological Protection Organization launched a cleanliness campaign. He said, during the campaign lasting for two hundred days, people performed the task of cleaning the fort, non-stop, without any fatigue and with team-work.
