Although the Congress government has announced the waiver of the farmer loans, the condition of the suicides is still continuing. The incident of the suicide of four farmers happened yesterday. In the first instance, a farmer of village Talwandi Nahar, Randhir Singh son of Kripa Singh, committed suicide by consuming poisonous substances.In this connection Randhir Singh’s son Pargat Singh, Karamjeet Singh and his wife Dalbir Kaur said that due to Randhir Singh’s death, we see our future going towards the dark.
Randhir Singh’s son Karamjit Singh said that we had big amount of debt on our head, we were unable to repay debt due to low land and we do not have any other source of income.Karamjit Singh said that our father was mentally distraught. On this occasion, the state committee member Kirti Kisan Union demanded the government to forgive the debt of farmer and Randhir Singh’s one child should be given a job and Rs. Five lakh in aid.In the second incident a farmer of village Kotha Chet Singh Wala, The 40 years old has finished his life after consuming pesticides. According to information from family members, Jaswant Singh, Kotha Chet Singh, son of Pritam Singh, had been mentally disturbed for several days and today he consumed pesticide in his home, later he was admitted to Civil Hospital, Goniana.In the third incident, Ajaib Singh, a farmer from Dhaula village of Barnala, committed suicide due to debt. The owner of an acre land was under a debt of six lakh rupees.
There is no one to earn a farmer’s house. The son of the deceased farmer said that his father committed suicide after hanging himself in his room as soon as he arrived from the farm. The farmer association leader said that Ajaib Singh was harassed by bank on repaying the loan installments. He has demanded a job for a family member due to poor condition of house.In the fourth incident village Mahal Kalan Farmer Kalala Sukhdev Singh’s son Gurjant Singh committed suicide due to the debt and jumped from the roof of his house. The family said that the two brothers have five acres of land and the loan was about 30 lakh rupees. The police have handed over the body to the deceased after the postmortem report.
