Unhappy over the tendency of some ministers, preferring five-star hotels over government accommodation and PSU Perks, the PM Narendra Modi has reportedly cautioned his ministers. A report claims that the order was read out by the PM on Wednesday after the Cabinet meeting. Apart from asking the ministers to stick to government accommodation while on duty, Modi also directed them to avoid availing any any benefit from public sector undertakings attached to their ministries.
The PM also expressed unhappiness over reports of some of his ministers using vehicles from public sector undertakings under their ministries. Claiming that such an act won’t be tolerated, Modi directed his ministers to avoid misusing vehicles of PSUs.
Following the orders by the PM, several ministers have instructed their staff to ensure that no vehicle form PSUs is included for their personal use while ordering that no ‘perks’ given by the PSUs, should not be also entertained.
In a similar incident, earlier on August 10, while addressing the BJP Parliamentary Board meeting, Modi had reportedly warned BJP MPs who don’t attend Parliament that they may not get to contest the next Lok Sabha polls if they persist with the habit. The PM told the meeting that the party was bigger than any individual and asked why MPs should be reminded about the need to attend Parliament. “What are you and me? The party is everything…You do what you want to, I will see in 2019,” Modi was quoted as saying.
