According to the price fixed by oil marketing companies on Friday, petrol has been hiked by 10 paise and diesel 9 paise per liter. Under this, the price of petrol in Jalandhar will go up by 10 paise to Rs 69.58 per liter from Thursday’s Rs 69.48 per liter. Similarly, the price of diesel has been increased from Rs 55.12 to Rs 55.21 per liter. It is to be mentioned that petrol and diesel prices are being fixed daily on the basis of international market. In such situation when international oil prices rise and rupee depreciating against the dollar, prices are changed in India accordingly. Due to daily changes in oil prices, dealers had to face opposition in the first month, but oil marketing companies are very happy with it. According to officials of three oil companies, after the introduction of daily oil prices across the country, companies have been helped to improve their storage. It may be recalled that the oil ministry had decided to allow daily changes in the prices of diesel sold at petrol pumps from June 16.
