Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Gandhi Nagar next week, reports say. Shinzo Abe will be the second world leader to be visited the city after Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Abe had visited Delhi last in 2015. Since the leader had been to Delhi a number of times, Modi took him to his constituency Varanasi to witness the Ganga Aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe share a cordial relationship with each other.
Modi and Abe will discuss defence partnership, geopolitics in the Asia-Pacific region, nuclear cooperation, and the joint infrastructural projects in the region.
Apart from discussing bilateral and international issues,both leaders will also participate in the ground-breaking ceremony (bhoomi pujan) for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project, which is the Rs 98,000-crore Bullet train project. The ceremony will be held near Sabarmati railway station.
