City businessman and social activist in order to generate respect for the Turban and religious headgear does scuba diving in Antalya, Turkey with his turban on. Harjinder Singh Kukreja young Sikh from city who traveled all way to Istanbul and other parts of Turkey. His visit was for boosting our country’s travel and tourism by showcasing the multi – ethnic environment of the country. Sikh always look out for upholding the honor of Sikhism and reaching the place and doing something unique where no one has reached till now.This time he has experienced Scuba Diving.
Turban is not a hindrance for anything – Singh said
Singh said, “For a Sikh community their Turban, Dastar and Pagri is the matter of pride and for other community their head gear including Hijab, the Kippah and the Dhukku- colorful headgear of African men and women. It is a matter of prestige for them also.
Sometimes back I did sky Diving with my full turban on and now experienced scuba diving. I am really happy with my experience as I love to do the things with pride of my Turban. I always want to convey that turban is not a hindrance for anything rather it’s a pride.”
Antalya is the fifth most populous city in Turkey, located on Anatolia’s flourishing south-west coast, bordered by the Taurus Mountains on the Mediterranean coast. Describing about his journey Singh explained this 7 day journey of exploring Turkey.
He added this modern Muslim society welcomed me with their opened arms. He did this scuba diving with 32 kgs helmet on his turban surrounded by 4 professional divers, breathing and walking underwater with the turban on, feeding the colorful variety of tropical fish of the Mediterranean and Augean variety.
Recently he was featured on the list of Richtopia’s 200 most Influential Philanthropists & Social Entrepreneurs 2017. The list was a compilation of top Philanthropists and Social-Entrepreneurs on which Singh ranks 148th of 200. He is also the only Sikh to feature on it. He represented Sikhs at World War 1 memorial in Belgium. Even at the installation of the bust of First Sikh ruler- Maharaja Ranjit Singh in St. Tropez, France last year and now his this experience has taken it to the new heights of making Sikh community more proud.
