Heralding a new era in the preservation and promotion of Hindustani classical music and dancing realms the Pracheen Kala Kendra had achieved another milestone of with celebration of diamond Jubilee year in 2016. In this regard Kendra organised a special programme of classical Kathak dance in collaboration with ICCR by young and talented Kathak danseuses Saberi Mishra from London and Trina Roy from Kolkata at M S Randhawa Auditorium, Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector-16, Chandigarh on Saturday. The young duo of most accomplished dance exponents of Jaipur Gharana, Saberi and Trina regaled the city art lovers in solo dances and spell binding Jugalbandi.
The programme got off to a majestic start with a Ganesh Vandana Ganpati Vighan Hare Gajaraj by Saberi in which she offered prayer to Lord Ganesha . After this she moved on shudh paramparik nritya (traditional kathak dance of Jaipur gharana) set to vilambit teen taal. Then followed a crisp Thumri, Kab aaoge Sajna and she beautifully danced to lyrics displaying her command over abhinaya aspect of Kathak. After Saberi, Trina took centre stage. She commenced the recital with prayer of Godess Bhawani, and moved on to pure classical Jaipur style of Kathak. She presented Todey, Tukde, Paran , Chakradar paran, Aamad, Uthan and other fundamental elements of Kathak with quite ease and she showed Gharanedar style in her dance. Then she moved on a Thumri Gagan garje , which was well received by the audience. Her flowing graceful movements, agile footwork and expressions matched the content.
Saberi and Trina concluded the programme with jugalbandi in teen taal which was done with perfect synchronisation.
The duo had a fine team of accompanists Pt. Rajkumar Mishra on Tabla, Shri Sunando Mukherjee on Sarod and Shri Pratip Banerjee on Vocal and Harmonium. DL
