V.C. Dr. Jaspal Singh inaugurates NTAS’ Nanda Theatre Campaign to mark Nanda’s 124th Birth Anniversary; Bestowing 2nd term of Fellowship to Satish Kaul appreciated

Nanda not only helps strengthening theatre movement, but also inspire activisits to carry forward his legacy of promoting Punjabi language, drama, punjabiat and values with more zeal, zest and devotion”, said Dr. Jaspal Singh, a world know Punjabi Educationist, Scholar of International Affairs, while inaugurating “Nanda Theatre Campaign, here.
The campaign, was launched by above half a century old National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) Patiala to mark Nanda’s 124th Birth Anniversary (30th September 1892). V.C. lauded NTAS’s for their 6 decade relentless socio-theatre services despite odds and financial crunch. The artists expressed gratitude to Dr. Jaspal Singh for his love for arts and artists, especially for granting 2nd term of Fellowship to Satish Kaul, a great Punjabi film hero in recognition of his life-long services towards Punjabi language, cinema and Punjabiat.
NTAS director Pran Sabharwal conveyed heart felt thanks of Satish Kaul to V.C. for his benevolence and noble gesture. Pran Sabharwal informed that he met Satish, who stays at Viveka Nand Ashram Ludhiana and is still much weak depending on walker to move about. Satish had expressed his desire to come to Patiala to pay his personal respects to V.C. on his becoming fit.
Regarding Nanda Theatre Campaign, Sabharwal informed that the campaign envisages to stage Nanda’s 100 year old plays “Bebe Ram Bhajni”, Suhaag and other value based Punjabi plays in the state, especially in villages to promote value and taste of appreciation for Punjabi languages, theatre and arts.
