Commissioner of Police (CP), Ludhiana is on the radar of the Punjab Government for allegedly helping rapist for his parole. The Sarabha Nagar Police had filed its report recommending no parole to former teacher Pankaj Arora, who has been facing life imprisonment in rape with his minor girl student, as there may be life endanger to the residents. But setting aside the report, sent by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Police (ADCP), the CP not only contradicted the report, but has also sent his recommendation in favour of accused to the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana. It was the allegation that the Police Officer has taken this step on the behest of a Congress MLA. A delegation of women and victim family with the help of ‘Ek Aas Women Helpline’ met today with DGP and demanded looking into the matter as a Police officer and MLA is still keen in granting bail for culprit.Case is three year old, when the Ludhiana Court had sentenced life imprisonment to a teacher Pankaj Arora in rape with minor girl student case. After the pronouncement of punishment, culprit had threatened the victim family with dire consequences. The ACDP had written in his report that the residents of concerned area were under fear after the news of his parole. In its conclusion report, the Police had said that the parole release should be cancelled.But in his letter, the CP had said that there could be no danger to the peace with the parole release of culprit, hence it was recommended him to release on parole. Parents of the victim girl alleged that the Police officer has paved the way for the permanent bail of culprit. They told that their home and the home of culprit is in the same street and has only 100 meter away and the way to go and come is the same street. They told that the DGP assured them with justice. Sources told that the Government has taken this issue seriously and sought a report from the Police.
