Andra Pradesh: 30 cattle starve to death in animal shelter. A message to the self proclaimed cow vigilantes, who are lynching the people on the name of the cow protection. Incidents came into light when 30 cow starved to death at a shelter in Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district. It should be exposed to these so called cow vigilantes. Officials at the Society for Prevention of Cruelty towards Animals (SPCA) shelter found the decomposed carcasses of cows in heaps of dung. The NGO is blaming that rain is the cause of deaths and claimed less than 20 cattle.Officials who visited the shelter said there was no sufficient stock of fodder for the animals. They also claimed that the shelter housing the cattle more than its capacity of 250 animals, and serving near about 500, and shelter is 2.5 acre of land.Venkateswara Rao, East Godavari animal husbandry joint director said, “The cows and cattle were all in a pathetic conditions in the shed. There is knee deep mud which was not cleared even after the rains stopped.” While most of the animals at the facility were in bad shape, around 40 have been identified as critical condition. Most of these animals were rescued from smugglers or from slaughterhouses.
