A body was found hanging at Jaipur’s famous Nahargarh Fort on Friday, with a threat note engraved on the rocks in protest of the movie ‘Padmavati’. When the police reached the spot they found a message written on the rocks stating – “We not burn effigies only, in protest of Padmavati”. The body was hanging 200 m above the ground. The police say it’s not clear if this is a case of suicide or murder. The police is trying to identify the body of deceased and cause of the death. The film has been in the eye of the storm following protests from conservative groups over alleged tampering with historical facts, a contention which filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has denied repeatedly. But several BJP-ruled states including Rajasthan have banned the movie, declaring they will not permit it to screen even if it is cleared by the censor board, which has yet to review the film. “Padmavati” has been produced by Viacom-18; the studio has suggested it will delay the film’s release, originally planned for December 1, to next year. The film features Deepika Padukone in the title role as Rani Padmavati, alongside Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji.
