Major central agencies have joined their hands against drugs in Punjab. Two meetings have been held between the Special Task Force (STF), BSF, IB, Punjab Police, Civil Administration and Punjab Government.This information was given by the Punjab and Central Government in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday. The High Court has ordered the filing of the status report regarding action on November 28.During the hearing, the Punjab government filed an affidavit in the court and said that the State Government has constituted STF to eliminate the intoxicating business in the state as per its promise and special training has also been given to its members. Besides, instructions have been issued to all the police commissioners, IG, DIG and SSP to prevent drug trafficking and business in all the police stations.It has also been instructed that if it is feared that there is not get concrete action in any police station, departmental action will be taken against the concerned SHO. With the formation of STF under the ADGP level officer, the entire control and monitoring is being done by the Chief Minister.On Tuesday, the High Court was told that 8.6 lakh people in Punjab are in the grip of fatal drunkenness.
