Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday said priority should be given to central paramilitary forces in procurement of weapons and equipment. He gave assurance that new Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will look into the matter and will solve the problems faced by Paramilitary personnel.
Rajnath Singh was speaking at event to hand over indigenously made equipment to the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) by defense public sector undertakings. Nirmala Sitharaman was also present on the occasion.
He further added that many defense equipment are under testing process which is being made by indigenous public sectors.
He handed over to the CAPFs a consignment of indigenous equipment, including an armored bus, bulletproof jackets, unmanned aerial vehicle and small arms. The Minister said he was always asked by Paramilitary personnel for light weight equipment which could be provided by home ministry for them.
