Chaibasa Treasury case: Lalu Prasad Yadav sentenced to 5 years in jail

Chaibasa Treasury case: Special CBI court in Ranchi sentenced RJD chief and former chief minister of Bihar, Lalu Prasad Yadav to 5 years in jail in the third fodder scam case on Wednesday.The fodder scam involved the embezzlement of more than Rs. 970 crore in government funds during Lalu Yadav’s term as the Chief Minister of undivided Bihar from 1990 to 1997. The latest case involves the siphoning of Rs. 33.67 crore from the Chaibasa treasury against an allocation of Rs. 7.10 lakh in 1992-93. This is the third fodder scam case in which the RJD Chief has been held guilty. He is facing trial in a total of six fodder scam cases.
