cab through QR code: All women and foreigners travelling alone in Delhi can feel safer now with the Delhi Police’s recent initiative of making the black Yellow taxis operating from Delhi Airport, traceable. Through the latest feature already existing ‘Himmat’ mobile application, Passengers can simply scan QR code and send automated details of their route, driver and taxi to the Delhi Police control room, according to the information.The facility was launched on Thursday, with 10 black-yellow taxis. Gradually 2000 such taxis will be updated to make them safe for passengers. The feature would also work for those , who don’t own smartphones, as they can avail this facility by simply sending a number written below the QR code, via SMS to 8130099100.According to the information, Special Commission of Police Sanjay Baniwal said that, “The moment a passengers scans the QR code, the details will reach our special control room which has been up especially for this purpose, The monitoring system will generate an SMS and send it to the passenger’s mobile phone as an alert.”He also said that a person sitting in the back of the car will also be able to see the details like driver’s name, license number, vehicle number, badge registration number etc.A message will also be sent to the commuter asking if he/she has reached the destination safely. If a passenger failed to response to the message , then they will get a call from the police control room asking the same. The Himmat app was launched in 2015 as a safety app for women.
