Delhi Safe street food zones. Under this, training of about 23,000 street food vendors has been completed and talks with other government and non-official stake holders is in progress. O Pawan Agarwal of FSSAI said that work is in progress to increase the safety of traditional food culture. It plans to set up Safe Food Street and Food Hub in all major cities including Delhi.While focusing on Food Vendors’ Training, Cleanliness and Social behavior in Famous Market and Areas of Safe Food under Safe Food Street and the vendor’s name, address, features and contact numbers are being kept in Public domain by digitizing them. This will make it easier for foreign tourists to go to an area or get a favorite food. Under this process, about 23,000 vendors have already been trained and talk with other stake holders is going on.An official of the Delhi Food Safety Dept told that the first scheme was started from 8 Food Safety Zone but many more are being added to it. The areas which are planned to be developed the Safe Street Food include Karol Bagh, Chandni Chowk, Paharganj, Krishnanagar Lake, Nizamuddin Station Area, Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi Station Area. Now Vendors is being linked to the Skill India Scheme and certificates are also being given to them.Under the new initiative, FSSAI will be able to provide the facility of Food Testing Lab to the common man. 9 mobile testing labs on Tuesday flagged off. From the name of Food Safety on Wheels, this mobile lab will provide to all the markets of foods, where from trader to consumer can inspect any food items from the common flaw. These mobile labs have also been given responsibility of awareness in addition to testing.
