A delivery boy who wanted to own an iPhone 8 decided to steal the phone from delivery packet which he was going to deliver. Courier delivery boy Sunil Kumar placed a soap bar in the packaging of the phone he was supposed to deliver to a Sector 19 resident and kept the Rs 70,000 gadget with himself. His plan fell apart within minutes of delivering the phone on Sunday. The owner, Ankush, chased down Kumar and handed him over to the police. The accused has since been produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.Police said Kumar, a resident of Mauli jagran, was working for a Sector 8-based courier company. Ankush had ordered an iPhone-8 online on September 29. On Sunday, Kumar phoned him and told him that he was coming to his house to deliver his iPhone-8.
When Kumar reached Ankush’s home and handed him the package, the accused rushed out immediately, raising suspicion in Ankush’s mind. Ankush opened the packet and was stunned to see a soap bar with a tape to the package.
Ankush came out of his house and started chasing the accused. He caught him there and then, and phoned the police. During interrogation, the accused admitted to having stolen the phone and keeping the soap in the packet. Later, police also recovered the stolen iPhone-8 from his possession. Police have registered a case of cheating against Sunil.
