Former India RAW agent forced to live in poverty. Chandigarh: The 85-year-old Thakur Singh, working for Indian Intelligence Agency, is now working hard for his two meals a day. His wife is also working as house maid. Thakur Singh is a resident of village Madi Megha in the border area of Tarn Taran district.Thakur Singh has spied for intelligence search and analysis Wing (RAW). He was caught in Pakistan and remained in jail for 12 years.
He spied for his country. In 1975, during spying he was asked for bringing ‘Jung newsapaer’. Thakur Singh said that in January of 1977, Pak Intelligence had arrested him from the Pakistan railway station. He was imprisoned for two years under army. After which he was tortured in Kot Lakhpat Jail. During this time, fingers of his hand and his right leg was broken.Thakur Singh said that in 1988, Indo-Pak had decided to release prisoners. He was also named in the list. His family was happy on his return to home.Thakur’s wife Shindo told that during his time in prison and even after the release of her husband , the government did not help them. They are working at people’s houses. They are still living in poverty. He demanded that the government should provide government job to a member of his family.
