Mandi Two buses buried. A major accident occurred on the Mandi National Highway at night. Two buses carrying many passengers were buried under debris due to landslides in the Kotkrupi near Urla-Joginder Nagar on National Highway. Mandi Two buses buried. It is very difficult to describe the destruction in few sentences. The incident is reported around 1:00 pm. The bodies of five people have been recovered so far, many people are suspected of being died in the accident.It is reported that two buses in Kotkrupi were stopped to have tea and snack for passengers. Many other buses were also standing there. Suddenly the landslide struck and swept all the buses nearly 1 km into a gorge. There was one HRTC bus going on Katra-Manali route. The bus driver asked the passengers to run after seeing landslide debris sliding from above. Most passengers traveling in the HRTC buses were from Chamba and Pathankot.
There is a possibility of 40 to 50 passengers in this bus. NH has been completely closed from Mandi to Kullu by Mandi administration. During this time the vehicles will be allowed to run for just an hour.All the traffic on this route has been transferred via Kamad-Kotla-Kullu route. Army and NDRF teams have been called on the spot immediately. The entire police departments including DC of Mandi are present on the spot. Currently, rescue teams are searching for people buried under debris from NH. Attempts are being made to remove the vehicles that were buried near the road. Injured peoples’ treatment is going on in nearby hospital.
