The Congress MLAs fumed during the meeting of vigilance and monitoring committee for not having say in planning and implementation of development projects and schemes of government. The quarterly meeting of vigilance and monitoring committee was held at Bachat Bhawan to discuss the development projects and government schemes.
Chairman of committee, Ravneet Singh Bittu Member of Parliament assured the MLAs that now the Congress government is in power and officials will inform and invite them to participate discuss development projects.After watching presentation on Smart city project, Congress MLA from Ludhiana West Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that MC has listed four thousand crores projects but the elected representatives were not aware of the projects planned or started in their areas.Another Congress MLAs Surinder Dawar and Sanjay Talwar also supported MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu and later MC officials assured MLAs to provide details of all ongoing development projects. MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu said that the officials held meetings in Chandigarh to discuss the development projects of city but MLAs, councilors and residents of city were not aware of the projects. He also sought details of sources of funds to be allocated for development under Smart city project. “An elected representative who is part of government can help in sanction and release of funds from different departments or agencies but the officials ignore MLAs due to which the projects were scrapped due to shortage of funds”, said MLA Ashu. While discussing the issues of hoardings, MLAs suggested the officials to remove the photos of MLAs and politicians from the hoardings. During the meeting the officials also reads the report of different departments including education, health, social security, MNREGA and others.
