Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Family gets threats from building mafia. A gang of bike-borne youths descended on his Sarat Bose Road home and threatened Krishna Bose, herself a former MP, with dire consequences for not purchasing building materials from them. The Ballygunge police later arrested six people.
Around 1.30pm on Monday, 10-12 youths arrived on motorcycles at 90, Sarat Bose Road, a two-storeyed structure that served as the home and chamber of former MP Sisir Bose, Subhas Chandra Bose’s nephew.
A minor repair started this morning because of some rain damage to first floor verandah (porch). A gang of young people made demands that building materials have to be sourced from them and wanted to know name of the contractor. There was none because just four ordinary masons were working,” said Professor Sugata Bose.
The Boses had broken a cardinal rule that exists in all neighbourhoods: they had not purchased stone chips, sand and bricks from the local syndicate.
A formal police complaint was filed by Professor Sugata Bose Bose saying the men had trespassed into his house and intimidated his mother and him.
