Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has revealed that security personnel of Punjab Police tried to free former God-man Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh after his conviction from Panchkula CBI court.
Manohar Lal Khattar who was recently interviewed by a national Hindi channel stated that apart from Haryana police personnel eight Punjab police officials were also deployed with the god-man.
Khattar raised a question on Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh that “how could he be so proud on himself for peace in Punjab as Haryana holds majority of followers of Dera than Punjab. Even the court where the conviction took place is located in Haryana” he said.
Haryana chief minister also informed that while the Haryana police official deputed for security of Gurmeet had only one weapon, those from Punjab police possessed two weapons each.
“Carrying two weapons made no sense” said Khattar in the television interview.
Further he said that Haryana police arrested and suspended all the security officials after they were found to be involved in the conspiracy.
“We did not welcome them (followers). We had already stopped all the public transportation services and even the roads leading to court were blocked” said the chief minister.
On the question of why Gurmeet was allowed to come with a convoy of 800 cars, Khattar replied “we had no role in it as it did not matter whether he reached court with 800 or 8,000 vehicles. Our responsibility was to ensure his presence in the court as we did not want him to give any excuse for not reaching the court” Khattar informed.
