However no time-frame in which the currency notes would be available in ATM’s has been announced by the RBI. No specific information has been given by the bank regarding the issue. Sources in bank have informed that Rs 200 currency note may take up to three months to reach the ATM. Changes in ATM’s are also underway to allow the machine to dispense these new currency notes.
It is yet to be seen whether all the 2.25 lakh ATM machines across India would be re-calibrated for dispensing the new note. ATM manufacturing companies said that they have not received any directive from the RBI regarding the re calibration of ATM’s for the new Rs 200 note. Those managing ATM machines have disclosed that some banks at an informal level have asked them to start testing of the new note, since it has a different size.
