The State Bank of India (SBI) committed a major blunder recently when they credited an amount of 100 crores to a wrong account. Between August 5 and September 19, the amount remained in the wrong account because of negligence of a SBI official. SBI commits major blunder. Actually, the bank was supposed to credit an amount to the tune of Rs 100 crores, which was allocated for mid-day meal in Jharkhand state. Instead, the negligence of the SBI official led the amount to be credited into a construction company’s account. The amount, however, remained there for over a month.DK Panda, SBI deputy general manager of Ranchi Zone, informed that the official held responsible, working for its Hatita branch, has been suspended and an internal inquiry was underway. He added that the amount was rerouted to around sever or eight accounts of the construction company after the amount was credited into their account. Further, he told that they had also got a complaint lodged at CBI unit of Ranchi. SBI commits major blunder.The blunder came into light when the education ministry asked the bank to release their allocated amount. It was then the bank acknowledged that the amount had been credited to a wrong account. Although, the bank has recovered 70 % of the credited amount but a lot of amount is yet to recovered and the bank authorities are making efforts for its recovery.
